BBC still manipulating the news

BBC Scotland’s Sarah Smith highlighted yet again why journalists are so poorly trusted within Scotland. Her attempts to smear the First Minister by saying (twice apparently) that Nicola Sturgeon was ‘enjoying’ the pandemic as she could set her own lockdown rules, different from the rest of the UK.  Of course, as the First Minister pointed out she 99130323_2667394680165167_5260931034580516864_oisn’t enjoying or embracing the daily delivery of the number of people dying from coronavirus. To suggest so is lamentable. It really says more of Sarah Smith than it does of anyone else. The First Minister – in complete contrast to the waste of space currently residing in a fridge in 10 Downing Street – has shown true leadership, presenting almost every coronavirus briefing while Boris Johnson has barely been seen, leaving his duties to an array of talentless, lying, failed spin merchants (also known as the Tory Government).

And as for the nonsense of Scotland going its own way, anyone who has paid attention – which obviously excludes the BBC’s Sarah Smith- would realise that it is the Tory 98174159_3520732824606931_2509946177311473664_nGovernment who have taken England on a different route from the rest of the UK nations. Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland are all following the Stay at Home message while England hasn’t a clue what it’s doing thanks to Boris Johnson’s incoherent ramblings. Apparently, people in England have to Stay Alert – as if keeping an eye out for an invisible virus will ensure their safety!

To compound matters, Smith then tries the tired old non-apology routine. In true BritNat journalist style, she never apologises in the same manner her insult was made – i.e. live on the ten o’clock news. Instead she releases a couple of tweets which coincidentally allows her to repeat her accusations, ensuring that anyone who missed the initial broadcast will see Smith’s claims, and of course all the search engines online will associate the First Minister with ‘enjoying the lockdown’.

Quite rightly the First Minister said to her the matter is closed, she has more important things to think about but that gave the BBC the excuse they needed to shut down all the complaints against Smith. The only way to treat the BBC is to stop paying the TV licence. You shouldn’t pay to be lied to. The BBC has a long history of manipulating the news to suit the establishment’s political agenda – it is not an unbiased source of news. Go online and watch London Calling to see the devious tactics the BBC used during the Scottish Independence campaign in 2014.

Just as I was typing this up, I see that the UK newspaper industry are using the current crisis to hide their circulation figures. Maybe a wee peak at Wings Over Scotland will reveal the true crisis within the newspaper industry which was developing long before someone order a bat sandwich from a Wuhan takeaway! With lockdown many newspapers are suffering, people have realised getting a daily paper isn’t so important in times of crisis. If this habit has been broken, why would anyone go back to picking up a newspaper once lockdown is over?

After all, there are more credible sources online – whether that’s Wings Over Scotland, Wee Ginger Dug, Independence Live or many other websites, so why return to the printed press (unless it’s the National or the Scots Independent of course)?

Boycott the Beeb

There is an online campaign to encourage everyone to boycott the BBC on Friday 21st June to show the public’s anger at the corporation for removing the free TV licence for all pensioners over 75 years old.

62420810_139035170532529_2057097394776830314_n

To be fair though this was a decision forced on the BBC by the current Tory Government in Westminster.  Despite making a manifesto commitment to maintain the free TV licence for all pensioners over 75, the Tories simply got around that by passing the responsibility of this to the BBC – without passing the full funding.  Only pensioners over 75 who claim (or they partner claims) Pension Credit will now get a free TV licence – meaning the vast majority will now have to pay out £154.50 per year.

However, in their usual cack-handed way the BBC simply did the bidding of their Tory masters and found an excuse to slash the free TV budget while maintaining the money they need to pay the excessive executive salaries for their part time directors and of course the exorbitant fees for their main presenters.  There have been plenty of posts online highlighting just how much the BBC think their own directors are worth, never mind the eye watering salaries they give to the likes of Gary Linekar and co.    The online campaign has been picked up by some of the right wing newspapers (well apart from the National, most of them are right wing rags), who are stoking this up as another stick to beat up the BBC.

There have also been a few petitions doing the rounds including AgeUK who highlight the importance of accessing TV for elderly people (petition can be found here: https://www.ageuk.org.uk/our-impact/campaigning/save-free-tv-for-older-people/) as well as petitions to the UK Parliament, one of which has reach the 100,000 limit required to ensure a debate in Westminster about this issue. As yet no date has been agreed, but even if it does go ahead the debate cannot force the government to act.
Although the boycott may be a good sign to allow the public to show their dissatisfaction with the BBC maybe something stronger is required – such as a mass boycott of TV licences.

Scotland is poorly served by the BBC – its output is so bad that it would make Pravda blush.  Only yesterday a good news report about a reduction in alcohol sales is turned into a bad news story by the usual BBC Scotland reporters finding anyone off the street who disagrees with the policy and giving them all the airtime they need to slag off the policy.  More information on this and the BBC’s many failings in Scotland can be found at https://informscotland.com/. Even at the Women’s World Cup the BBC find a way at insulting Scottish viewers:

The BBC will find it difficult to ever recover from their showing at the Scottish boycott BBC - is that trueIndependence Referendum in 2014, where their anti-Scottish bias was clear for everyone to see. This has been summarised in the documentary London Calling which can be london callingfound online at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TXQYuLUAbyw. This documentary is based on the excellent book by G A Ponsonby:  http://bit.ly/BBCstolethereferendum.

More and more people are realising that they are simply paying a TV licence to allow the BBC to broadcast misinformation and lies to them. This has led to an increase in the number of people cancelling their TV licence, or simply refusing to pay for one in the first place.

There is lots of information online on how to legally stop paying your TV licence and I’m sure that this would have a far greater impact on the BBC than a one day boycott. As long as you don’t watch live TV or BBC iplayer then you do not need a TV licence. You can watch catch up TV, Netflix, Amazon or whoever and do not require a TV licence. The BBC pays Capita to collect the TV licence – but these people from Capita have no powers to ask you any questions – so don’t reply to them and don’t let them into your house.tv licence facts

The Imaginary World of Ruth Davidson

In Ruth’s World all reality has been turned upside down.

In Ruth’s World all that is good is really bad.

In Ruth’s World she is a potential First Minister.

bbc-logoIn the same way that television makes instant celebrities of nobodies who feature on tawdry game shows, BBC Scotland has created their own, media-friendly politician.  One who is guaranteed to feature on as many broadcasts as she likes and one which will support the BBC’s hatred of the SNP/ Scotland.  To all intents and purposes Ruth Davidson is a media construct.  Without the unfailing support of the BBC she wouldn’t exist.  In her place would just be another Tory hammering the poor with their evil policies – but not the BBC’s darling Ruth.

RuthDavidson-20160627100050680It’s not that Ruth is a good politician and can hold her own during interviews – she’s never interviewed like any other politician, she’s usually just fed lines like aren’t the SNP bad because …(add whatever cause the BBC are promoting that day) – which she obviously agrees with.  When she is rarely asked a serious question like the one STV threw at her – she is hopeless and unable to rely on her usual prepared script.

Watch this interview via the National here.

Apparently. she can’t name one ting she’s done for Scotland as it would break confidential meetings she has with UK Government ministers – aye right!

This is the women some elements of the mainstream press (especially the BBC) are touting as the next First Minister. There’s more chance of Scotland winning the World Cup!  She is a political fraudster who flip flops on every major decision, one minute she’s for Remain the next she’s calling for Brexit.  Any political comment made by her has a limited shelf life as the commands from London tell her to change her tune again.

Davidson is a fraud, leading a political party which has always used Scotland as a resource to be exploited and little given in return.  This is the woman who supports austerity, supports the bedroom tax, the rape clause, ignores the WASPI women and who changes her tune to suit whatever her paymasters in London tell her.  If she is the best hope for Conservatives in Scotland – or even for the British Nationalists – then great, because she’ll lead them nowhere and when her demise happens it will bring the Tories crashing down even lower.  Take away the free publicity she gets from the mainstream media (particularly her old bosses at the BBC) and you release what an empty vessel she is.  There is nothing genuine about Ruth Davidson except her desire to look after herself and leave the rest of us to rot – another typical Tory.

Are you talking to me?

There is a very interesting blog on the Random Public Journal called, “Quit talking to the BBC” that is definitely worth reading.

Quit talking to the BBCThis blog examines the historic role and mission of the BBC and how this relates to the way this organisation frames any political debate that is counter to the BBC’s support for the British establishment.  Instead of reading my views on it why not click the link here: https://randompublicjournal.com/2018/08/01/quit-talking-to-the-bbc/ and read it for yourself.
